Children’s Privacy Notice

This notice is written for parents and guardians. It explains how Froggaloo thinks about children’s privacy, and how it approaches any information that relates to a child.

Working draft — last updated August 2026 — pending specialist legal review before public launch

To be completed before public launch

  • Final, specific retention periods for each category of information
  • Names of any service providers information may be shared with
  • A dedicated contact for parent/guardian rights requests
  • Confirmation of the exact consent mechanism used, once accounts are introduced

Our starting principle

Froggaloo is designed for children, and for the grown-ups who care for them. We start from the position that a child’s privacy should be protected by design, not treated as an afterthought — and that the parent or legal guardian, not the child, should be the one creating accounts, making purchases, subscribing to communications and providing personal information on the family’s behalf.

Because Froggaloo is intended for use by children, our approach is being developed with reference to children’s privacy laws and frameworks — including, among others, COPPA in the United States, the UK Children’s Code (Age Appropriate Design Code), and the provisions relating to children’s data sometimes referred to as GDPR-K in the EU/UK. This notice describes our intended approach; it is not a claim of certified or verified compliance with any of these frameworks. The final version of this notice, and the systems it describes, will undergo specialist legal and privacy review before Froggaloo publicly launches any functionality that involves children’s personal information.

What information may be collected, and from whom

Wherever possible, information used to operate Froggaloo is intended to come from a parent or guardian, not directly from a child. For example:

  • Parent/guardian information: an email address to receive bedtime stories or newsletters, or to create and manage a Froggaloo Family membership.
  • Child-related information provided by a parent: for example, a child’s first name and birthday, if a parent chooses to use a personalized feature such as a birthday greeting.
  • General technical information: limited information collected automatically while using the website, described in our Cookie Policy.

We aim to avoid collecting children’s personal information beyond what is genuinely needed for the feature a parent has chosen to use.

Why this information is needed

Information is intended to be used only for the purpose it was collected for — for example, to deliver the content a parent signed up for, to operate a membership the parent has joined, or to personalize a specific feature, such as printing a child’s name on a birthday greeting the parent requested.

How the information is used

We do not intend to use children’s information for behavioral advertising, to build a profile of a child, or for any purpose beyond delivering the specific feature or content a parent or guardian has requested.

How long it is kept

Information is intended to be kept only for as long as needed to provide the relevant feature, or as required by law. Specific retention periods will be published here once finalized.

Whether it is shared with service providers

Information may need to be shared with a small number of service providers who help operate the site (for example, email delivery or payment processing). We do not intend to share children’s information for advertising or marketing purposes. The specific providers used will be named here once confirmed.

Parent and guardian rights

Parents and guardians can generally expect to be able to review what information has been provided about their child, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and withdraw any consent previously given. A dedicated contact method for these requests will be published here as it is finalized.

How consent is handled

Where a feature requires collecting information relating to a child, our intention is that a parent or guardian — not the child — provides that information and gives any consent required. As account and membership functionality is built, the specific consent mechanism used will be described here and reviewed as part of our pre-launch legal review.

How children’s information is protected

We intend to apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to information relating to children, and to limit access to it to what is needed to operate the relevant feature. We also intend to avoid, without explicit future review and approval, things like child profiling, behavioral advertising directed at children, location tracking, public child profiles, child-to-child messaging, public comments from children, or collecting more identifying information (such as full names or exact birthdays) than a feature genuinely needs.

Birthday and other personalized features

Where Froggaloo Family offers a personalized experience — such as a birthday greeting — the relevant child information (for example, a first name and birthday) is intended to be entered and managed by the parent or guardian. This information is not intended to be displayed publicly.

Questions from parents and guardians

A dedicated contact for questions about a child’s information will be published here before public launch.
